What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Assistant/Dishwasher position at Developmental Preschool & Daycare Center?
We are currently seeking an individual to serve as kitchen assistant in our child care center. This is a part time (~5.5 hours daily) permanent position. Hours for position will be 7:30 AM-1 PM.
I) INTRODUCTION:
Under the general administrative supervision of the Executive Director and the Child Care Operations Coordinator, supports the cook in food service duties to ensure that meals are served under the Child Care Food Program guidelines. Provides afternoon support in the office.
II) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Assist the cook in prepping food service carts and delivering food to classrooms.
2) Serve as back up in the absence of the cook. Prep meals as planned, divide into serving dishes and maintain health and sanitation requirements to ensure food safety.
3) Clean, sanitize and store all food service items, tableware and other implements after each meal.
4) Assist with Child Care Food Program bookkeeping duties, including on-site head counts and meal production records.
5) Perform food services related cleaning chores, including dishwashing and sanitizing, cleaning kitchen area on a regular basis including appliances, shelves and cupboards, and countertops, maintaining the kitchen area on a level approved by the sanitation inspector.
6) Attend training on meal preparation and sanitation as necessary to meet the requirements of the Department of Family Services and the Sanitation Inspector, as well as the Child Care Food Program.
7) Other duties as assigned.
III) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED. Experience in food preparation, service and sanitation desirable. Willingness to work around young children.
IV) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to operate equipment typical in kitchen and office settings, including commercial mixers, stoves, dishwashers, copiers and computers. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and speaking with a variety of audiences including parents, professionals and community members. Must understand the federal and state statues and interpret rules and procedures. Should be organized and be able to work independently. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to fifty pounds, as well as agile in bending, walking other positions necessary for the care of children. Willingness and ability to travel in own vehicle throughout assigned service area.
