Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Financial Officer
DIVISION: Administration
SUPERVISOR: Chief Financial Officer
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
PURPOSE:
Provide support to the CFO and CEO in managing the agency’s financial operations. Oversees accounting, financial administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Safety/Maintenance to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Assist the CFO, Vice Presidents and the business office in the analysis of funding sources and appropriate reimbursement.
- Perform regular reviews of billing practices and procedures.
- Review expenditures and recommend appropriate action to the CFO.
- Perform duties as agency Administrator of Retirement Plan.
- Support and maintain accounting for agency investments.
- Participate in meetings with Family and Social Services Administration and its divisions, We Care, United Way, and any other organizations that are related to funds received by the agency.
- Make recommendations for a safe environment for all staff and consumers.
- Participate in strategic planning, budget preparation and resource management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by CFO.
- Ensure regulatory reporting related to all facets of the agency is filed timely.
- Maintain the Financial Section of all policy and procedure documentation, ensuring it is always current.
- Ensure that employees follow all departmental and agency policies as well as state and federal laws.
- Support/train administrative personnel on maintaining departmental budgets. Provide each department with necessary reports to make proactive decisions.
- Participate in Strategic Indiana Provider Network.
- Ensure the fiscal policies and procedures are reviewed on a regular basis.
- Participate as a contributing member of various agency committees including Personnel, Disaster Recovery, Record Retention and Safety Committee.
- Attend/request related training, as authorized.
- Become active in an organization of related professionals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration with major in accounting or related discipline required. CPA designation preferred.
- Demonstrate administrative/fiscal management and control abilities required. Exposure or experience with the not-for-profit sector preferred.
- Must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Must be able to do such physical acts as operate calculator or computer keyboard with average speed, access existing records storage, attend meetings throughout the state or nation.
- Must have demonstrated ability in the knowledge of a computer system’s operation.
