Job Description
POSITION TITLE : Development Coordinator
DIVISION : Marketing & Development
SUPERVISOR : Senior Director, Marketing & Development
CLASSIFICATION : Non-Exempt
PURPOSE :
Engage in and / or facilitate marketing & development efforts, including annual fund solicitations, fundraising events, special projects, internal and external marketing, and other efforts to promote and support the ongoing operation, improvement, and development of DSI.
Manage activities related to planning and execution of donor development and public relations.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY :
- Develop relationships and maintain communication with our main supporting organizations. Submit annual requests to these organizations.
- Serve as community partner liaison.
- Inventory giveaway items and auction items.
- Increase individual contributions to the annual fund through social media, direct mail campaigns, building relationships with our major stakeholders, and face-to-face solicitations.
- Assist with grants.
- Organize and oversee fundraising events. Increase revenue, sponsorships, participation, and exposure for our events. Launch new events as warranted in outlying communities.
Assist other departments with special events and create programs, signage, videos, etc.
- Distribute programmatic marketing materials to local businesses and groups to increase public awareness of DSI’s services.
- Presents Disabilities Awareness Program to groups in the community.
- Plan and implement donor and volunteer recognition initiatives.
- Maintain, and handle intake, and tracking of scheduling and exiting of volunteers.
- Create and / or distribute marketing materials, as needed.
- Regularly complete relationship-building opportunities in different outlying areas (county meetings, visits to facility locations, work on county activities / events, self-advocacy groups).
- Maintain a general understanding of the Mission and operation of the agency and its services. Represent the people we serve positively by scheduling presentations and tours to promote DSI.
- Maintain a donor database that tracks all contributions made to DSI.
- Track the expenditures associated with any grant, ensuring that the funds received were used as promised and report back to the grantor how the funds were used.
- Track fundraising efforts / results and generate related reports.
- Ensure proper maintenance and retention of records regarding fund and resource development (monetary and in-kind donations).
- Maintain a working knowledge of program-related development software.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS :
- Excellent and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Working knowledge of Canva, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Teams.
- Promote the efficient and effective operation of the Marketing and Development Department by providing assistance and administrative support including assisting with the preparation of budgets for the department and participating in the goal-setting or strategic planning activities for the organization, as needed.
- Have own transportation to / from meetings and events in and around the entire service area.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- As a representative of DSI, you will promote and maintain appropriate internal and external disability awareness and public relations activities.
- Ability to work flexible, non-standard hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Associate degree or Technical degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related field required; or significant experience in marketing and public relations.
- Maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license, and insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
