The Ocean City Workforce Development Program:
The Ocean City Workforce Development Program (OCWDP) is a summer experience for young men between sixteen and nineteen. This program offers participants the opportunity to build independence, gain work experience, and develop essential life skills while living and working in Ocean City, Maryland. The program aims to provide young men from Baltimore with the same seasonal work opportunities typically offered to international students in Ocean City. Additionally, the program aligns with DevelopMore's mission of assisting young men in accessing resources and opportunities to build brighter futures.
Description:
We seek a dynamic and motivated Assistant Director to join our Ocean City Workforce Development Program team. Living in program housing, the Assistant Director will be responsible for co-teaching enrichment programming, organizing and facilitating program workshops and team-building exercises, and coordinating various program events. This role requires a commitment to youth development, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively engage and support program participants. Additionally, the Assistant Director will work collaboratively with program staff to ensure the success and well-being of all program participants.
Responsibilities:
- Co-teach enrichment programming to enhance the learning experience for program participants.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating program workshops, outings, and team-building exercises to enhance participant engagement and learning opportunities.
- Assist with participant management, including tracking attendance, monitoring progress, and providing support as needed.
- Provide logistical support for program activities, events, and outings, including transportation arrangements and venue reservations.
- Support program communications efforts, including drafting and disseminating newsletters, updates, and announcements to participants and families.
- Collaborate with program staff to implement program policies, procedures, and initiatives that support participant success and program goals.
- Provide emotional and social support to program participants, addressing any concerns or challenges they may face.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for program participants, fostering a supportive and inclusive community environment.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth development.
- Demonstrated background in urban education and youth development.
- Strong understanding of student development in a dormitory or camp setting.
- Experience in teaching (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workplace.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Additional Work Days/Hours:
Based on program needs, flexibility may be required for evening, night, and weekend hours outside of normal business hours.
Education:
You must be at least in senior standing in college or hold a bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university.
