Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on IT Manager who can effectively lead a team of engineers while actively engaging in technical tasks and client site visits. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working alongside their team, providing strategic direction and technical support as needed. This role requires a strategic blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to improve team standards. Candidates must be within a 60-minute commute from Richmond, Slough, and Farnham. Own vehicle essential.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development :
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of senior / 3rd line field engineers and remote support engineers.
Design and implement robust processes for team performance, training, and comprehensive documentation.
Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, providing constructive feedback and setting clear, actionable goals to support career growth.
Technical Oversight :
Serve as the highest technical escalation point for complex third-line issues.
Manage critical IT infrastructure, including :
Windows Servers (2016–2022)
Microsoft 365 and Azure AD
Advanced networking (VLANs, DNS, firewalls, including Cisco and Fortinet)
Ensure compliance with Cyber Essentials , GDPR , and other relevant regulatory standards.
Project & Process Management :
Oversee major IT projects such as infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and deployment of new technologies.
Conduct site surveys and participate in pre-sales consultations to tailor solutions to client needs.
Address documentation gaps by ensuring all systems and processes are thoroughly and accurately documented.
Client Engagement :
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
Participate in technical client meetings and support pre-sales activities to help secure new business.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience :
7–10 years of experience in IT, including technical leadership roles.
Proven track record of managing technical teams and delivering high-quality outcomes.
Technical Expertise :
Advanced proficiency with :
Windows Servers (2016–2022), Microsoft 365, Azure AD
Networking technologies (including VLANs, DNS, firewalls with Cisco and Fortinet)
Familiarity with tools like SolarWinds, VMware, and advanced imaging solutions
Skills :
Exceptional client-facing communication skills with the ability to manage high-pressure situations.
Strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience in creating and enforcing structured processes.
Other Requirements :
Tertiary IT qualification or relevant industry certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Cisco CCNP ).
Valid UK driver’s license and own vehicle for field visits.
Location : Candidates must be within a 60-minute commute from Richmond, Slough, and Farnham

Mandatory Skills - At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role in :
Previous managerial or supervisory experience required
Configure and implement cyber essentials and GDPR security standards (mandatory)
Office 365 Cloud (Email, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) (mandatory)
Network Infrastructure maintenance and installations (Routers, Switches, AP’s, DHCP, DNS, TCP / IP, Firewalls, VLAN’s)
Ability to pro-actively support and collaborate with service providers and team members
Follow industry best practices processes.
Windows server 2016, 2019, 2022 (Group Policies, Security Policies etc)
Azure administration and implementations
Good understanding and knowledge of Windows 10, Windows 11 and Mac
Familiar with different client builds / imaging
Strong customer support with excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to problem solve independently.
Salary : $55,000 - $60,000
