PULLER
The Pulling Department brings plants to designated areas for customer orders or transferring to other Devil Mountain sites.
Essential Functions:
Good knowledge of plant identification, quality, and health.
Follow direction of Crew Leader regarding which zone or area to pick material from.
General care for pulling plants and pulling plants that will be acceptable to customer.
Proper use of the Latitude Scanner to ensure correct plants are pulled and that inventory is updated in the system.
Assist with manual picks, yard order builds, and front counter orders and rebuild discrepancies into inventory.
Operates tractors, RTVs or electric carts with trailers to move around the nursery.
Ensure plants have been watered before leaving in the will call or delivery areas.
Assist customers in the yard with locating plants material, lifting heavy plant containers, and loading plant material.
Must be able to communicate with the office staff regarding orders and other pulling requests. Listen for request on the radio, stay alert to communicate with all departments on orders.
Utilizes and maintains the PPE provided, care and clean company equipment used.
General care for the nursery grounds, keeping the nursery clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.
General care for nursery stock (plants), ensures plants are watered, handled with care, and are placed in the appropriate location.
Additional Tasks:
May assist in other nursery departments as needed.
Duties are subject to change at any time per management’s discretion.
Job Specifications:
Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions on uneven ground surfaces and rainy weather. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (standing/sitting). Extensive walking. Stooping, kneeling, and crouching required. Bending at the waist, twisting, turning, and squatting is required.
Lifting requirements: Up to 50 lbs. 75% of the time. Up to 100 lbs. 25% of the time (team lift techniques when required).
Hand movement: Gross grasping for moving plant material. Use of hands/fingers.
