What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Devils Backbone?
The Server position works as a team to collectively ensure a positive experience for all guests. The Server functions as the first point of contact for table service diners and provides guests with an in-depth knowledge of the company and current menu offerings. This position provides customer service.
Daily Duties, Functions, Responsibilities
· Answer guest questions knowledgeably and professionally
· Warmly address each guest upon arrival and departure
· Know all table numbers and positions
· Convey all guest concerns at once to the MOD/Shift Lead, if not able to handle themselves
· May complete the basic functions of the Busser, Food Runner, or Host during busier times.
· Assist guests with QR ordering system
· Take guest orders when necessary or directly requested
· Mediate order requests to the bar and kitchen, and assist in delivering orders once ready.
· Maintain a thorough knowledge base of current food and beverage offerings (includes ingredients, cooking procedures, etc.)
· Relay daily specials, upcoming events, or new products to guests.
· Efficient use of the POS (Toast) to input orders, manage a high volume of tabs/orders, and process payments when needed.
· Responsible for cash handling
· Completion of steps of service for each table.
· Cleans the facility as needed/required.
· Assists host team to maintain restroom cleanliness
· Monitor a table’s beverage levels
· Work in a safe and controlled manner
· Responsible for safety and personal hygiene standards at all times
· Responsible for compliance and understanding of all policies set forth by DBBC
· Adhering to all VA ABC serving and handling laws.
· complete all assigned sidework tasks
· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Thorough level of customer service positions in food and beverage service.
· Ability to manage personal responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Education and Experience
· Minimum two years in a customer service position.
· High-volume experience preferred.
· Virginia Drivers License
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contacts
· Regular contacts are made with individuals from within the Back of House and Front of House divisions
· Communication is usually cooperative in nature, but the ability to deal tactfully with a variety of visitors/individuals is sometimes necessary.
· Work takes place in a loud environment for long periods (up to 14-hours)
· Lifting up to 50-pounds occasionally is necessary in addition to repetitive lifting and balancing of up to 25 lbs being the norm.
· Conducts work in a standing position; job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting.
