BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY (Briefly describe the purpose and scope of the job).
The Lead AP Accountant, under general supervision from the Manager, will lead highly complex projects and participate in a broad range of recording functions related to accounting transactions and accounts payable activities. The Lead also performs various other tasks including; coding reviews, preparing and reviewing manual journal entries, account reconciliations, internal control documentation, audit support documents, leading optimization efforts, and assisting the Manager in coordinating the day-to-day efforts of the team.

- Leads team members in complex tasks and projects
- Provides technical and analytical guidance and training to team members
- Apply a thorough understanding of Automation processes and how deeply they integrate into daily work
- Code, review, and post invoices/journal entries
- Long term problem solving around invoicing issues and follow up until a resolution is reached
- Responsible for Invoice reporting which includes Daily invoice counts, Stalled Invoices, and Discount and Past Due Invoices
- Responsible for Invoice Processing sub teams and the efficiency and effectiveness of that group
- Project work which includes testing coordination
- Work with assigned department and field office contacts to train and streamline invoice processes
- Conduct account reconciliations
- Communicate Devon's procedures for invoicing and payments to vendors and field staff
- Review departmental processes, recommend and assist Supervisor in implementing any changes or new methods to improve effectiveness and efficiencies
- May provide technical assistance and training and guidance to less senior staff
EDUCATION (Minimum level of education required for the job).
- Bachelor’s degree required - Accounting/Finance preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Identify any special tasks, skills and/or abilities unique to this job).
- 5 years of Oil and Gas Accounting experience in JIB, AP, or Financial Accounting preferred
- Process automation and optimization experience preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Office365 skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Teams
- Experience using data analysis and/or automation software tools & techniques preferred (i.e. Power BI, Power Automate, UiPath, Alteryx, FME)
