Avature is a sophisticated SaaS platform that relies on a robust infrastructure to stay performant, reliant, and secure. As a Cloud Security Engineer, you’ll be responsible for helping integrate security principles at every stage of our deployment processes and throughout each resource’s lifecycle.

Working autonomously, you will interact directly with our Cloud Services area to enable all DevOps and infrastructure-related tasks to be carried out securely in a dedicated AWS-based environment.

This role may also involve coming up with creative solutions to unique challenges as our platform’s security continues to grow and evolve.

Your challenges and objectives

Understand Avature’s infrastructure and processes.

Identify opportunities for improvement in our security infrastructure and propose solutions.

Collaborate with the rest of our engineering teams in the design of a robust security layer.

Take ownership of the security posture in the environment.

Empower engineers to build complex IAM policies.

Devise new ways of enabling engineers and developers to ensure US federal government-level compliance on their services.

Formulate and execute incident response processes.

Your day-to-day activities

Look for vulnerabilities in our infrastructure.

Audit activity on our platform.

Work with our Audit and Risk teams to define policies and comply with client requirements.

Analyze the specifications of our deployments and provide security for them.

Implement security projects.

Manage identity access (RBAC).

Conceive and apply changes in our platforms using configuration management and infrastructure-as-code principles while enforcing our security posture.

About you

Be willing and eligible to be sponsored for US government security clearance.

Knowledge of Linux, including servers and hardening.

Deep understanding of networking, firewalls, and intrusion detection and prevention systems.

Knowledge of data encryption and key management, cloud security systems, and data protection (datacenters & AWS).

Experience with vulnerability scanning tools, incident detection, and response.

Development skills.
