Patient Care Technician

DeWitt Eyecare is seeking an energetic and experienced Technician to join our expanding office. Join a dynamic, fast paced and caring team to helps us create a personalized eyecare experience for every patient.

The role of the Technician is to provide patient support to the Optometrist. This includes patient work-up, pretesting and performing the appropriate professional services to patients. As the functional liaison between patient and doctor, the technician is responsible for communicating all patient questions and concerns to the optometrist. Accurate procurement of patient history and follow-up is required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates expert ability in communicating with patients the purpose of each test and its importance to their eye health

• Operation and maintenance of all pretesting equipment including but not limited to:

• Auto-refractor / keratometer

• Non-contact tonometer

• Retinal camera

• Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)

• Auto-field perimeter (visual fields)

• Tear testing instruments

• Stocking and maintenance of all exam rooms

• Tracks and reports to leadership/management the capture rate of all specialized testing

• Preps encounters based upon patient complaint and previous findings (if available)

• Ensures proper testing is performed depending upon patient signs and symptoms and what the doctor recommended based upon existing patient records

• Capture and properly inputs pre-examination data including chief complaint(s), current medications, medical history, and pretesting room data

• Adheres to the time frame allotted for pre-doctor workup

• Proper input of any and all pertinent notes between the doctor and patient interaction into the patient encounter

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
