What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fund Accountant position at Dexian?
DESCRIPTION
This team handles fund events based on a combination of client instructions, fund prospectus information and other supporting fund/ account documentation. This includes processing transaction and some static data updates in-tune for the event.
The team works on various fund events that includes processing of transactions, creating ad-hoc recons and fund’s trial balances & class reconciliations. Types of events include Client Conversions, Fund Adoptions, Fund Mergers (Internal & External), In-Kinds/In-specie transfers and Asset Transitions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Processing Client conversions for a varied array of new and existing clients.
• Support team during fund mergers to include planning and testing prior to event.
• Processing asset transfers across advisors, funds and clients based on direction letters received.
• Ability to create ad-hoc reconciliations of Trial Balances, General Ledgers, Cash/Assets, etc.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and clients to support new Fund on-boarding’s and conversions.
• Assist teams in completion of fund events like launches, liquidations, maintenances etc.
• Ensure that all controls and procedures outlined in the procedures manual and general company policies are complied with across all groups.
• Create, maintain and update procedures for client specific deliverables.
• Work closely with stakeholders to resolve queries and provide first level support.
• Ensure that available technology is fully utilized in the most efficient manner.
• Report to management on MIS and ad hoc issues that may arise.
• Participate in and or lead special projects.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE
· 1-3 years of experience in Mutual Fund Accounting/Implementation Operations
· Strong reconciliation skills – ability to create ad-hoc reconciliations of Trial Balances, General Ledgers, Cash/Assets (Trial Balance, Sub Ledgers, Balance sheet vs. Income statement). The ability to determine downstream impacts of complex fund events
· Experience with client onboarding and conversion experience is a PLUS
· Expert use of Excel (VLookUp, Macros), PowerPoint, Visio and ability to present to senior management.
· Strong Excel skills Bachelor degree required, degree preference is Finance, Accounting or Economics
· Teamwork: Support team during conversions and mergers to include planning and testing prior to event.
· Weekend Availability – In general 2 to 3 weekends a year.
· Flexibility – ability to work in a dynamic environment and accommodate changes in day-to-day workloads/requirements
Soft skills:
· Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
· Ability to work independently and as a key member of a group
