- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in network engineering, including 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Cisco CCNP or higher certification is preferred.
- Proven experience with network design, implementation, and management in complex environments.
Please note: Cisco certification is preferred, and a degree is preferred but will consider candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.
Certification is optional if a candidate with previous experience demonstrates that they are capable of the certification at the hiring teams’ discretion.
- What does a typical day-to-day look like for this person? Can you get a % breakdown of their day? This person will be acting as a network engineer / Architect on a day-to-day basis. They do not need actual managerial experience. Just experience mentoring and supervising a team. The manager said that a strong senior-level network engineer with some mentoring experience would work, or ideally, a lead of some kind. Their day-to-day will consist of overseeing the design, configuration, and deployment of network solutions, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi Access Points, load balancers, and VPNs. On top of leading the younger network engineers and developing team goals, metrics and performance standards. Etc.
- It talks about lifting up to 50lbs or “exerting,” what items is this? do not worry about this. the clerks puts this on every JD they send out. Sure this include computers or monitors or Servers if they need to be replaced.
- What within networking is a huge must haves? (routes, switches, palo a lot, wifi, SD-WAN, etc.) preferred to have a CCNP or CCIE and must show Cisco Verification number to us that they have this. they also must have a good grasp on Security including NIST and CISA and Checkpoint firewalls. for networking tools all of the above. Except he did not mention palo alto.
