Java Software Engineer

Onsite 3 days a week ( Tues, Wed, Thurs). Will support 9am-6pm EST shift.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Software Engineering Advisor to join our team and oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of complex software application programs. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, along with the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment. You will be responsible for writing, testing, and debugging software applications while ensuring clear communication with business partners and the development team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, write, and modify complex software programs, ensuring they meet business objectives and technical specifications.
• Code, test, and debug software applications, maintaining high quality and scalability.
• Work iteratively in an Agile environment, delivering value-based outcomes.
• Interact with business partners, engineers, and QA teams to ensure project success and resolve challenges.
• Architect alternative solutions and make independent decisions to improve system efficiency.
• Contribute to the design of system frameworks, improving modularity, reusability, and simplicity.
• Simplify systems by reducing dependencies and eliminating redundant work.
• Actively participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting issues.
• Provide technical consultations to developers, business partners, and clients, ensuring the development of efficient applications.
• Perform production support and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Engage in technical assessments of platform changes and enhancements.
• Drive continuous learning and innovation by adopting new technologies and trends.
• Maintain strong communication skills to articulate complex technical ideas to stakeholders.

Key Skills and Technologies:

• Programming Languages: Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, JavaBeans, Servlets, JSP, JMS, JDBC.
• Development Tools: Eclipse, IntelliJ, VS Code.
• Web Services: SOAP, UDDI, XML, WSDL.
• Databases: MemSql, SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
• SQL Expertise: SQL query optimization, performance tuning, SQL Server stored procedures.
• Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud-native development, AWS preferred.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Jira, Git, Jenkins preferred.
• Agile Methodology: Experience in Agile development environments.

Education & Qualifications:

• Required: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience (8 years).
• Experience:
• 6 years in software development using Java and Spring Boot Microservices.
• 5 years of experience with SQL, including query optimization and performance tuning.
• 1 year experience in cloud-native development (AWS preferred).
• 1 year of experience working in Agile environments.
• Strong understanding of SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) and web services.

• Strong communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to present clear and concise technical specifications.
• Ability to adapt in dynamic environments and adjust to changing requirements.
• Collaborative team player with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to lead initiatives and take ownership of deliverables.
• Strong passion for learning and staying up to date with emerging technologies.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Perform optimization of website content and code.
• Ensure adherence to IT strategies, guidelines, and best practices.
• Visualize and prototype solutions to demonstrate key concepts to stakeholders.
• Contribute to overall system architecture and drive the integration of new technologies.
• Collaborate effectively with a geographically dispersed team.
• Ensure the development of applications aligns with business needs and technical specifications.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as required by project deadlines.
