JOB DESCRIPTION
The Plant Manufacturing-Industrial Engineer is responsible for costestimating, design for manufacturability, process control, processimprovements, and tool design for the multi-plant manufacturing campus.
- Participating in design reviews to establish standard and customproduct designs that optimize manufacturability.
- Reviewing and approving Engineering layouts and drawings foroptimum manufacturability, cost, tooling, make / buy decision, and productstructure.
- Developing and communicating a "manufacturing plan" fornew designs or processes to production departments.
- Generating new or revised process specifications to supportmanufacturing.
- Identifying, designing, and procuring required tooling andfixtures, including the control of tooling expenditures within establishedlimits.-Supporting production operations during the manufacturing processthrough technical guidance and resolution of any problems or errors.
- Developing facility layouts and process flow charts that reflectcurrent operations and processes.
- Analyzing work samples and creating routings to develop standardsfor labor utilization.
- Evaluating methods for improving worker efficiency and reducingwaste of materials and utilities such as restructuring of job duties,reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase ofequipment.
- Initiating and participating in departmental or company strategicprograms. This includes cycle time, quality and cost improvement programsgenerated through continuous process improvement.
- Providing maintenance engineering for machine tools and processfacilities.
- Designing and specifying lifting equipment for heavy productlifts, inspect lifting equipment, and specify lifting procedures.
- Assisting the Materials Department with capacity evaluations,vendor evaluation and assistance, and make / buy decisions.
- Jointly participating with the Engineering Department to resolveall engineering and design related problems as well as providing manufacturinginputs required for cost-effective designs.
- Aiding the Quality Department in assisting with audits, fieldservice, inspection and any quality issues associated with manufacturing.
- Generating cost estimates to support the Sales department.
- Interfacing with vendors, customers, federal, state and localrepresentatives when required. Occasional overnight and international travel will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION :
Requires Bachelor's Degree inEngineering, or a comparable discipline and at least 3 years relatedexperience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
