HOURS: Hours to be determined by the district based on building needs. Hours are subject to change and flexibility may be required.
SUMMARY: This role provides administrative support to the assistant principals at Dexter High School, handling tasks such as attendance management, communications, record-keeping, and fundraising. Strong organizational, communication, and Excel skills are needed, along with the ability to multitask and work independently. A positive attitude and teamwork are essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated computer experience and technology skills including word processing, database and spreadsheet applications
- Demonstrated experience in general office procedures and machines
- Must maintain a positive attitude and be a team player
- Possess excellent organizational, problem solving, communication and telephone skills
- Organize and complete quality work in a timely fashion
- Interpersonal and judgmental skills necessary to work effectively with parents, staff, and public
- Ability to analyze situations and make logical decisions
- Ability to interact positively with children and adults
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to set, manage, and coordinate multiple priorities
- Ability to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to maintain tact and diplomacy under stressful situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding information of a sensitive nature

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Label mailboxes
- Update building phone list
- Bring in and distribute US mail
- Distribute interoffice mail
- Answer phones
- Write student passes
- Update previous day’s attendance in Powerschool
- Run absence % report for Asst. Principal (every other Friday)
- Fill out detention slips
- Email detention reminders and follow up with students who have questions
- Work on daily absence spreadsheet
- Enter daily attendance in Powerschool
- Help with student attendance questions
- Put student athletes on early dismissal sheet
- Update student athlete and field trip attendance in Powerschool
- Dispense and record daily medications
- Assist with sick students
- Fill out work permits
- Hand out parking passes
- Check Parchment daily and process transcript requests
- Assist principal with special assignments
- Help Asst. Principal with standardized testing materials
- Reception duties - guide parents and students to meetings
- Help teachers with extra duty tasks like mailings and large check deposits
- SWWC field trip stuff
- SWWC communications
- SWWC Attendance - special circumstances (daily passes)
- SWWC field trip stuff
- SWWC communications
- DHS, DCS, staff calendar updates
- Order WCC textbooks for DEMC students
- Picture Day
- Senior Panoramic
- Fundraising - requests, maintaining calendar of approved fundraisers, supporting clubs/groups that are doing fundraisers, maintaining database of fundraisers
- All communications coming from the DHS Office
- Proofreading building communications
- Senior weekly emails (Fridays)
- Principal update (Fridays)
