Position ~ Youth Cheer Coordinator

Closing Date: February 24, 2025/Until Filled
Days/Hours: Part-time, 10 hours per week or less
Compensation: Based on number of participants
Time Commitment: August through October
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide positively-driven leadership and develop a high-quality youth cheerleading program under the direction of the Dexter Varsity Cheerleading Head Coach
- Support each participating athlete in achieving a higher level of skill, an enhanced appreciation for values of discipline and teamwork, and an increased level of self-esteem
Job Duties/Tasks
- Organize and direct Dexter youth cheer practices and cheering at DYFL youth football games
- Provide opportunities for all athletes to learn and improve using effective coaching techniques and skills to teach the fundamentals for the sport in a fun and positive manner
- Teach precautions and procedures to ensure safety and help prevent injuries
- Promptly document all injuries
- Maintain positive relationships with other staff, parents, and athletes
- Communicate with parents during the season
- Communicate with the Dexter Varsity Cheerleading Head Coach
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work – both in the cold and heat
- Standing for lengths of time
- Able to demonstrate cheers/dance effectively
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills
- Knowledge of the sport of cheerleading
- 18 years of age with reliable transportation
- Ability to work weeknights and weekends as needed
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Pass a background check
- Strong communication skills with the ability to deal with children and the public calmly and diplomatically
- Ability to successfully represent Dexter Cheer in the community both in person and online in any capacity (social media)
