Job Description
High school diploma minimum and preferred 8 years related Manufacturing Materials Management experience with track record of improvement and/or four-year college degree and prior experience in Business, Supply Chain Management, engineering or related manufacturing field. Email communications and internet proficiency essential. Ability to sort and analyze large spreadsheets of data for trending. Computer and software experience or equivalent training to include strong existing proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook is required. Must have interest in expanding technology and manufacturing skills as the opportunity.

Job Description
- Plans, directs, and controls activities related to all procurement, warehousing, and transportation for the plant.
- These activities include all tasks from intent to purchase through delivery of each commodity.
- Develops and manages systems for ordering and control of all production, maintenance, and office supply items to simultaneously assure proper minimum quantity on hand and overall inventory levels.
- Oversees efforts of personnel buying, receiving, and distributing materials.
- Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices. Prepares and reviews quotations/proposals and order acknowledgements for conformance to company policy, legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
- Works through corporate commodity managers for vendor selection, terms, and pricing of commodities purchased at corporate level. Requests vendor quotations and makes vendor selection decisions for items sourced at the plant level.
- Direct point of contact to/conduit with suppliers to transmit quality and delivery issues.
- Examples of responsibilities: Bulk steel rollings, purchases of intercompany produced items, offshore sourced parts from forecast, long term domestic parts from forecast, short term domestic items from kan-ban or MRP systems, MRO items, packaging items, etc.
- Prepares and manages the long term forecast for all offshore supplied components and long lead time domestic components. Current supply chain forecast requirements are 16-20 weeks planned, transmitted to vendors, and in process/route.
- Calculates and places full container load and LCL orders from offshore suppliers with established shipping/receipt dates and transport methods.
- Works with freight forwarders for prompt multimodal delivery by most cost-efficient methods.
- Coordinates forecast usage estimates with sales and production for correctness and to transition product into/out of inventory for customer changes.
- Evaluates usage of long lead items on a weekly basis for required adjustments to plans/deliveries.
- Prepares instructions regarding inventory management and purchasing systems/procedures for the plant. Oversees physical inventories and other reconciliations such as negatives/usage analysis.
- Reviews item usage against bills of material and transmits needed corrections to engineering.
- Job goal is to eliminate any backorders due to late/missing material. When backorders are inevitable, responsible for daily reporting on inbound status/ETA of backordered commodities to management until closed out.
- Maintains daily plant on-time delivery statistics/reporting to corporate requirements.
- Coordinates with Engineering and Sales to obtain first article samples, determine stocking/use quantities, and arranges with corporate commodity managers for the initial purchase of new items.
- Monthly preparation of inventory dollar value forecast/projection for one month out.
- Arranges for disposal and inventory transactions of surplus/defective items, handles claims/debits to vendors for defective or warranted product.
- Maintains procurement data for the plant in accordance with company requirements.
- Point of contact for corporate purchasing initiatives and trend analysis.
- Must have positive attitude and proactive approach to potential vendor issues, supply chain disruptions, and new customer demands and enjoy helping others to continuously improve DMP product and services.
- Tenacity in getting materials in on time, and dedication to accuracy in all transactions.
- Ability to make decisions quickly and accurately while following established policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
