Assistant Coach
DFAC Swimming is looking for a motivated, knowledgeable, and responsible Assistant Coach. You will be joining a coaching staff who is passionate about coaching and mentoring our swimmers. You will work with Head Coach and colleagues as we design and employ appropriate workouts for our swimmers that correspond to their age, skills, and season plan. You will provide encouragement and constructive feedback, enforce our code of conducts/pool rules, and serve as a positive role model and representative for the team.
In addition to being reliable and a good communicator, the ideal will possess high ethical standards and will be interested in our swimmers’ character and personal development as they are in their competitive swim development.
DFAC is a USA Swimming team based in DeForest, Wisconsin and serving the Greater Madison, Wisconsin area. Our growing team currently has 80 members ranging from novice to National level qualifiers. We are a yar round competitive swim team established in the early 1970s, proudly serving swimmers of all ages and abilities and providing a high coach to swimmer ratio.
We are looking for energetic coach who is active on deck, enthusiastic about the opportunity, reliable, and possesses good communication skills. Our ideal candidate will possess high ethical and moral standards and will be as interested in our members’ character and development as they are in their development as swimmers. We are seeking a coach who has a passion to coach and mentor our swimmers. Our board ran team works to support the coaching staff in order to provide the best opportunities for swimmers and families.
Brief job description and responsibilities include:
- Reports directly to Head Coach
- Complete/Maintain all coaching training requirements for USA Swimming Member Coach Certification including CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding* certifications and required background check (*Alternative Lifeguarding training may be possible for those with a swimming background)
- Provide a safe training environment, and enforce/follow all Safe Sport regulations
- Follow season plan and write or execute daily workouts.
- Provide age and skill-appropriate training and feedback to one or more training groups with an emphasis on encouraging individual growth, teamwork, and competitive technique.
- Working collaborative with Head Coach, including communicating with parents and swimmers
- Participate and promote DFAC membership, club activities and social events
- Complete all coaching training requirements
- Attend staff meetings and other events as assigned by Head Coach
- Reliability and professionalism is required at all times
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have competitive swimming experience, coaching experience and USA swimming coach’s credentials.
Must be available for afterschool and/or weeknight practices and some Saturday mornings September through May; summer hours vary, but are currently morning or late afternoon.
The Assistant Coach is an hourly position, averaging 10-15 hours per week plus a potential 1 – 2 swim meet weekends per month.
