Sr. Manager, Marketing Data Science
We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Marketing Data Science team for Fanatics Commerce. This is a high-impact role within the company to directly influence growth of our marketing initiatives through data science.
You will lead the team in charge of all the marketing models in areas such as purchase propensity, digital ad bidding, customer routing, and more. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving data-driven decisions, fostering innovation, and leading high-performing teams to achieve impactful results, preferably in the marketing science domain.
You will lead a team to work closely with cross-functional teams such as marketing, product, engineering, design, and user research, to develop and deliver ML models, insights, metrics and solutions with actionable recommendations to business partners. You will exhibit technical acumen, marketing sense and business savvy, with a passion for making an impact through creative storytelling and timely actions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data science strategy to support our marketing initiatives, including customer engagement, retention, and overall customer lifecycle optimization.
- Build, lead, mentor and grow a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and impact.
- Leverage statistical modeling and machine learning to optimize marketing spend, influence fan engagement, and enhance customer experiences.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to initiate, lead and drive to completion large-scale/complex strategic projects for teams, departments and the company.
- Drive org-wide impact by shaping marketing science and marketing strategy through data-centric storytelling and recommendation.
- Guide architecture, data models, and engineering best practices for this area as well as broader Data Science and Data as required.
- Act as a thought partner to senior cross-functional leaders to prioritize/scope projects, provide recommendations, and evangelize data-driven business decisions in support of strategic goals.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS or higher in a technical or quantitative field — Computer Science, Operational Research, Statistics, Economics, or related fields.
- 5 years relevant work experience in marketing data science.
- 3 years of leadership/management experience.
- An understanding of marketing science use cases (customer segmentation, lifetime value models, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of overall experience.
- Experience with building a strong DS team, helping team members realize their full potential, and influencing the team culture.
- Strong sense of ownership and intellectual curiosity.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to inform and influence product and business decisions.
- Ability to translate high-level business objectives into actions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights to technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
- Track record of solving complex data science problems.
- Expertise in applied statistics/ML in at least one statistical software package.
- Strategic thinker with a customer-focused mindset and the ability to translate business goals into data science frameworks and recommendations.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and engineering.
