Overview:
This position is an opportunity to make a difference in the daily work life of individuals applying for public assistance with the FSSA / Division of Family Resources (DFR) as an Eligibility Assistant. The role provides general office support and assistance for case workers and clients.
The DFR determines eligibility for individuals applying and/or receiving public assistance, including TANF, SNAP, and Medicaid. As an Eligibility Assistant, you will interact directly with the public, clients, office staff, and other state personnel.
You will be responsible for helping collect paperwork, processing or pushing applications, and assisting clients who are applying and/or receiving public assistance among other administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome on-site visitors and determine the nature of their business
- Review client information for accuracy
- Assist with computer applications
- Schedule client appointments
- Scan documents into client case files
- Maintain fax machines and copier functions
- Answer and direct incoming calls
- Maintain daily activity reports
- Deliver outstanding customer service to all clients
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a desire to help others
- Show a strong customer service background
- Maintain confidentiality
- Handle conflict in a calm manner
- Be reliable and dependable in the workplace
- Able to multi-task
- Show proven job stability
- Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
- Have a clean criminal background
- Prior experience as a Customer Service Representative, Cashier, Clerk, Administrative Assistant, Receptionist, or Front Office worker is desired
This is a long-term position with opportunities for promotion, paid time off, benefits, and a 37.5 hour work week from Monday to Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM.
