Position Title: Mill Operator
Job Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Mill Manager-Oskaloosa
Schedule: Night Shifts Available. Monday Through Friday, Occasional Saturdays
Locations: Oskaloosa, IA
Job Summary:
This position is responsible to independently operate and control all phases of the production process. This includes all daily operations from the receiving of raw materials, mixing, batching, and pelleting of finished animal feed, to loadout of finished goods. This position will require operation of technical production equipment and warehousing operations. All Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures will be followed.
Responsibilities:
- Follows all facility safety rules, policies, and procedures including the use of Personal Protective Equipment PPE).
- Understands and adheres to all processes related to employee and feed safety requirements and demonstrates a commitment to feed safety by ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, ISO, HACCP, GMP, FSMA, etc.)
- Maintains proper operation of Control Points and Critical Control Points per the plant HACCP Plan and performs housekeeping as assigned. · Follows all ISO procedures as set by DFS to maintain quality and integrity of both raw materials and finished products.
- Follows sanitization protocols for disease control requirements as required.
- Keeps work area clean, neat, and free from safety hazards.
- Operate all feed manufacturing equipment.
- Assist in the daily scheduling of orders.
- Load trucks when needed.
- Maintain proper control of ingredients both regulated and otherwise. · Maintains good customer relations by representing DFS with high integrity at all times.
- Serve on continuous improvement teams.
- Be aware of and accept new technology.
- Maintains a positive attitude and is a motivated reliable employee. · Assists with training of others.
- Assists with maintenance and repair of facility and equipment. · Maintains 98.4% perfect attendance.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of basic computer functions
- Able to read, write, and speak English
- Work in adverse weather conditions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attentive to organization, detail, proper documentation requirements, and accuracy
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter
- Pass post offer drug test / Pre-Employment Drug Screen

The work environment characteristics include grain and feed ingredient handling, outdoor work, and work at heights.
