Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Airfield Operations Manager, will “office” out of as-signed vehicle (truck) and the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) to oversee and coordinate airfield activity to ensure the safe and efficient operation of air operations areas are in compliance with current Federal Aviation Administration and Airport Board rules and regulations.  

What you will be doing:

  • Supervising Assistant Airfield Operations Officers and Airfield Operations Agents who provide inspections, coordinate construction and maintenance activities on the Air Operations Area (AOA), and provide escorts in support of aeronautical activities.
  • Documenting problems, discrepancies, and non-complying conditions concerning FAR Part 139, security, and tenant activities to appropriate parties and reports for follow-up actions; monitors progress of corrections; determines severity of discrepancies and priority for corrective actions.
  • Closing all or portions of airfield during emergencies; authorizing the issuances of Notices to Airmen (NOTAM’s), as required.
  • Acting as the center point of coordination for scheduling activities between airfield users and the FAA Airport Traffic Control Tower(s) for routine and special inspections, tours, maintenance, construction, and other airfield activity.
  • Scheduling, supervising, directing, and evaluating the performance of assigned staff.

 

What you need:

  • Completion of two (2) years college or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience in airfield operations at an FAR Part 139 certificated large hub airport; OR
  • Three (3) years airfield operations experience and two (2) years in a communications center environment.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures involved in the operation of an FAR 139 certificated airport.
  • Knowledge of the applicable federal rules and regulations affecting the safe and efficient operation of an FAR Part 139 certificated airport.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions, analyze and manage situations and take decisive actions rapidly.
  • Ability to deliver professional communications, clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the Board.
