Embryologist
Position Purpose: DFW Center for Fertility & IVF is looking to add an Andrologist/Junior Embryologist to its laboratories.
Candidates with only Andrology experience will be provided embryology training if they meet criteria after employment and observation of their work.
Candidate will be responsible for performing all duties associated with production in the Andrology, Endocrinology and Embryology/IVF Lab, as well as data entry and communication with patients and other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all technical aspects associated with a clinical andrology laboratory such as semen analysis including sperm morphologic assessment, sperm preparation for intrauterine insemination and IVF procedures, sperm cryopreservation.
- Perform all technical aspects associated with a clinical endocrinology laboratory such as operating hormone analyzer, and conduct relevant troubleshooting, and reporting test results.
- Conducting equipment and laboratory procedure quality control, assurance, and improvement (QC/QA) under the Laboratory Director's supervision.
- After adequate observation and training, or if already proficient, candidate will be expected to perform certain aspects associated with a clinical embryology laboratory such as culture plate preparation, oocyte identification during egg retrieval and grading, insemination of oocytes (conventional), embryo culture, embryo grading, preparation and loading for transfer and embryo freezing (via vitrification).
- Maintaining semen, oocyte, and embryo inventory.
- Record keeping and data entry.
- Maintaining lab cleanliness.
- Supply inventory management
- Maintain good laboratory technique and follow lab protocols.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Reports to: Medical director and IVF Lab director
Education Requirements: BS Degree
Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time behind a microscope, in a lab setting.
- Ability to work under a laminar flow hood.
- Flexible working hours, potential for long days (over 8 hours) and early morning start times.
- Rotational weekend and holiday work.
- Heavy lifting.
- Ability to perform tasks efficiently in outlined time frames.
Other skills/experience:
- At least 1-2 years of experience in andrology laboratory
- Good hand to eye coordination.
- Self-motivated and an ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Takes initiative and is a self-starter.
- Ability to communicate with patients and team members honestly, effectively and with empathy.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
