Job Overview
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the IT Parking Systems Manager, provides moderately complex preventive maintenance, testing, and repair service of computer hardware related to the Airport’s parking revenue control system. Installs, maintains and supports a variety of computer hardware and software related to the parking revenue control system.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors the health of the parking revenue control system and implements necessary efforts to ensure normal operations.
- Maintains, tests, and repairs the various components of the parking revenue control system.
- Troubleshoots all parking revenue control system equipment such as Ticket Issuing Devices, Ticket Exit Devices, Ticket Transport Mechanisms, induction loops, gate and gate housing assemblies, etc.
- Assists with the resolution of issues related to the Automated Vehicle Identification and Toll Tag system.
- Installs and implements new parking revenue control components.
- Analyzes situations and uses best judgment to make decisions about required repairs; provides recommendations for cost effective improvements for field operations.
- Escalates operational issues to the appropriate levels as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience as a field service technician, parking revenue control industry or related field.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
- Possession of a valid class C driver's license.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of parking revenue control systems and operations.
- Knowledge of fiber optic network backbone topology and system required communications.
- Skill in the installation, configuration and repair of parking revenue control components.
- Ability to work flexible hours and adjust schedules as needed to meet requirements of job.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and to maintain harmonious internal and external working relationships.
- Ability to be on call via pager or other department-defined method.
- Ability to pass a medical physical.
DESIRABLE:
- Experience with current Airport parking revenue control system.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
EFFORT:
- Works in an office environment and in the field.
- Uses keyboard devices and computer monitors.
- Uses reasoning abilities in performing analysis and solving problems.
- Frequently exerts forces equivalent to lifting 25 pounds and occasionally exerts forces equivalent to lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Communicates by telephone, in writing and in person.
- Uses near-visual acuity in reading written documents.
- Drives to locations on Airport property.
