Custom Sign Graphic Designer / Assistant Project Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to join our dynamic custom sign team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for visual communication and a keen eye for aesthetics. This role involves collaborating with various departments to create compelling designs that effectively convey our brand message across multiple platforms. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for producing high-quality graphics for custom signage and digital media, ensuring that all designs align with the customer's vision and marketing goals per project.

This position also includes the ability to conduct soft site surveys in which the candidate will be required to take soft measurements and pictures of the specific area where new signage is requested and use these pictures and measurements to produce visual mockup representations of the signage that is agreed upon by our lead project manager that are to the correct size and specifications.

This candidate will pose as the right hand or assistant to the lead project manager / custom sign division leader to help maximize efficiencies on projects from the initial customer contact (site survey) to the final installation so that we can complete every project professionally with the same process, not to mention on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

• Develop engaging and innovative graphic designs for various projects, including print advertising, social media, and website content.
• Create visually appealing logos and branding materials that reflect the company’s identity.
• Utilize typography effectively to enhance the readability and impact of designs.
• Illustrate concepts and ideas through sketches or digital artwork as needed.
• Collaborate with marketing teams to produce promotional materials that meet project specifications and deadlines.
• Apply color theory principles to ensure harmonious color palettes in all design work.
• Participate in production design processes, ensuring all graphics are print-ready and adhere to industry standards.
• Stay updated on design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve skills and output quality.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• Learn and organize sheets of different custom sign material costs from our distributors to be able to send the lead project manager what he needs to formulate an accurate quote.
• Be customer facing to an extent when conducting site surveys to be able to grab pictures and measurements of the areas needing signage updates.

Skills

• Proficiency in graphic design software such as CorelDraw, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Strong understanding of typography principles and their application in design.
• Experience in print advertising design and production processes.
• Knowledge of HTML for web-related graphic projects is a plus.
• Ability to illustrate concepts effectively, bringing ideas to life visually.
• Familiarity with color theory and its application in creating cohesive designs.
• Strong logo design skills with a portfolio showcasing previous work.
• Basic photography skills are beneficial for creating original content when necessary.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Strong organizational skills to be able to keep all data from specific projects in their respective folders by client name and project name.
• Some technical skills to be able to measure surfaces and areas where new signage is to be proposed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.04 - $25.70 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
