Shipping Supervisor - Night Shift

DG Foods is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Shipping Supervisor to oversee our Night Shift shipping operations at our Hazlehurst, MS facility. The Shipping Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring that our products are efficiently and accurately shipped to customers while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.  This position reports to the Shipping Superintendent.

Essential Job Functions:

 Job duties are as follows, but not limited to: 

• Responsible for supervising hourly shipping staff.
• Oversees shipping operations and ensures the efficient and timely delivery of goods under the direction of the Shipping Superintendent.
• Monitors and oversees outgoing and incoming shipment activities to verify items are shipping to the correct location and in good condition.
• Coordinates with department supervisors on all shifts to ensure smooth operations and seamless coverage.
• Address any issues or delays that arise during the shipping process, including troubleshooting transportation problems, resolving inventory discrepancies, and managing customer complaints.
• Responsible for training, coaching, and evaluating the performance of employees to maximize employee engagement and achieve strategic goals.
• Performs audits and inspections of product being loaded.
• Completes and maintains shipping records as required per Company policy.
• Accurately reconciles inventory on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.
• Communicates assignments, goals, and objectives to direct reports.
• Ensures that the shipping area is always maintained in a clean and safe manner.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Skills and Experience:

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license.

• Strong leadership and management skills in a high paced environment.
• Must have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to always maintain a high and relatable level of professionalism.
• Ability to always maintain a high level of integrity.
• Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high pressure situations.
• Must have dependable transportation to and from DG Food facilities, no exceptions.
• Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office 365, and other related software.

 Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or other related areas.  
• Other combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
• Minimum of two years of experience in shipping and receiving operations required.
• Forklift certification is highly desired.

 Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a cold and wet environment.
• Ability to work in an office environment.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
