Job Title: Heavy Equipment Dispatch Specialist

Reports To: Heavy Equipment Logistics Manager
Position Summary: The Heavy Equipment Dispatch Specialist will assist by coordinating the transport of heavy equipment and materials for DH Griffin Wrecking safely per DOT regulations. This role requires: high level of attention to details, meticulous planning, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of machinery and resources. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of logistics, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency in the context of heavy haul transport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the scheduling, dispatching, and routing of trucks and trailers for heavy haul assignments.
- Communicate with operators, drivers, and field teams to ensure smooth operations and adherence to timelines.
- Develop and maintain transport documentation, including permits, load plans, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Track the progress of hauls and manage changes or contingencies in real time, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Collaborate with the Heavy Equipment Department to assess load requirements, power needs, and specialized equipment (e.g., lowboys, flatbeds).
- Evaluate fuel consumption and optimize transport routes for cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure the best rates for equipment transport services.
- Ensure all safety and performance standards are met during loading, transport, and offloading processes.
- Provide regular updates to management on transport logistics, project statuses, and budget considerations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in logistics coordination, preferably in heavy haul or construction industries.
- Strong knowledge of transportation laws, permitting processes, and heavy equipment specifications.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
- Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and resolve issues promptly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in heavy equipment operations or familiarity with construction equipment.
- Knowledge of fuel consumption rates and power requirements for heavy machinery.
- CDL Class A license or equivalent experience in heavy haul transportation (a plus but not required).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in varying environments, including office settings and active construction sites.
- Must occasionally lift or move items up to 50 pounds.
