What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Sitter - Emergency Department (ED), Rotating, Per Diem position at DHA - Valley Regional Hospital?

At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for a Patient Sitter to join our team.
At the direction of the RN or Paramedic, and assigned to a specific patient, the Patient Sitter will remain in constant attendance with the patient to help maintain the patient's safety.
The primary responsibility of the Patient Sitter is :
- Remain in constant attendance with the assigned high-risk patient until relieved by a qualified individual. This includes when the patient leaves the unit for procedures or tests.
- Perform specific activities (non-nursing) at the direction of the patient's nurse / paramedic.
- Report any observed changes in the patient's condition to the patient's nurse / paramedic.
- Obtain immediate assistance from the patient's nurse / paramedic in the case of any unusual circumstances, or with any restrained patient who needs assistance or attention.
- May read, play cards / games with, and / or interact with the patient.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to the confidentiality policy at all times
