Job Description:
The Facility Assessor role involves assisting with facility condition assessments, conducting inspections, and documenting findings through photos, sketches, and notes. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, evaluating building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural), and drafting preliminary reports on repairs or upgrades. Fieldwork includes physical tasks with safety protocols, occasional client interactions, and continuous learning. The role also supports senior assessors in managing timelines and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facility Assessment: Support comprehensive facility condition assessments through interior and exterior inspections of client buildings, adhering to standard practices under supervision.
- Documentation: Capture detailed findings using photographs, sketches, and notes, documenting mechanical and electrical systems with tablets to ensure accurate records.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Review architectural and engineering blueprints to understand building layouts, systems, and potential issues, guiding assessment processes.
- Reporting: Assist in drafting preliminary reports that identify needed repairs, maintenance, or upgrades, and organize data for detailed condition assessments.
- System Evaluation: Apply basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems to assess their condition and identify potential defects.
- Fieldwork: Participate in physically demanding fieldwork, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Client Interaction: Occasionally liaise with clients to clarify requirements or provide preliminary feedback, maintaining a professional presence on-site.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new technologies, materials, and assessment techniques through training sessions to enhance facility management skills.
- Project Coordination: Assist senior assessors in managing project timelines, ensuring timely completion of assessments and collaborating with team members.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a related field.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge: Proficient in building systems, including architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
- Communication: Strong communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort using computers.
- Organization: Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with a proven track record of adapting to changing priorities and performing under pressure.
- Deadline Management: Ability to consistently meet strict deadlines.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to interpret data and determine effective courses of action.
- Software: Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Specialization: Background or education in Construction Management, Facilities Management, or Building Science.
