Job Summary:
We’re seeking a dedicated, hardworking Deckhand to join our team on Tug Boats that specialize in building and towing large barge tows. You’ll be part of a skilled crew responsible for assembling, securing, and maintaining tows while navigating waterways. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the assembly, securing, and disassembly of tows (barge fleets)
- Operate deck equipment such as winches, lines, and chains to manage the tow process
- Perform regular maintenance on deck equipment and tugboat to ensure safety and reliability
- Collaborate with the captain and crew to ensure safe, efficient, and timely operations
- Maintain safety standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials and emergency procedures
- Perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting, deck cleaning, and repairs in varying weather conditions
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a deckhand on tugboats or other maritime vessels is preferred
- Strong physical stamina to handle demanding tasks and long hours
- Experience with tow-building processes, deck equipment, and tugboat operations
- Ability to work under pressure and in harsh weather conditions
- Must have a strong work ethic, excellent teamwork skills, and great leadership skills.
- Must have a TWIC Card.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.22 per hour
Expected hours: 84 per week
