Working independently in collaboration with engineering and the IT staff the IT System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The IT Systems Administrator will also engage in customer focused activities, POC activities and potentially Professional Services as needed . The IT Systems Administrator (SA) will recommend and implement new LAN devices and Internet services as well as perform a critical role at company for corporate best practices and emerging, innovative technical solutions for the organization s users and growing customer base. The Systems Administrator (SA) administers and controls all host and guest operating systems and core applications, implementing and monitoring compliance with established security and integrity plans. The SA provides on-going analysis and planning of systems, recommends changes, upgrades, and new projects to facilitate meeting of our customer s needs. Testing and commissioning newly provisioned hardware for internal use as well as for customer related projects. Dev Ops related activities would include customer site upgrades as well as handling SAAS activities required for new customers.
Responsibilities:
- Create, Maintain and Execute standard system administration practices
- Plan, deploy and manage IT systems, Web Servers (IIS), Active Directory and AWS environments
- Develop and maintain system documentation
- Transition new products and services to a production environment
- Research and resolve performance issues in distributed systems
- Monitor computing resource utilization, track trends, and project future needs
- Advance the state of systems per standards and goals
- Direct the actions and monitor the performance of third-party support vendors
Skills/Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in Windows administration
- 5-10 years of experience with Network Management
- Network Operations Center (NOC) experience, Service Level management
- Experience working in and managing a virtualized computing environment
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Firewalls, and Active Directory
- Experience with Active Directory
- Good understanding of patch management for Windows operating systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical associates and customers
- Self-directed and a fast learner with a track record of innovative problem solving.
- Ability to support customer related activities as needed such as migrations, upgrades etc
- Ability to do limited and sporadic travel as needed to support customer needs
- Administrative SQL Server skills: Backup and recovery
- AWS experience and they are transitioning some things to the cloud
Highly desired:
- VMWare experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field desired
