We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of International Customs Brokerage Operations for our facility in Columbia, South Carolina to manage our customs brokerage operations by directing and leading the facility through multiple levels of managers and supervisors. You will be responsible for performance, strategic planning, coaching, and evaluation. Additionally, this role manages and is responsible for the profitable results delivered by this facility.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of International Customs Brokerage Operations for our facility in Columbia, South Carolina to manage our customs brokerage operations by directing and leading the facility through multiple levels of managers and supervisors. You will be responsible for performance, strategic planning, coaching, and evaluation. Additionally, this role manages and is responsible for the profitable results delivered by this facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Oversee the Entry Process teams throughout the entire process at the Columbia, South Carolina facility. Ensure effective leadership and management of staff to achieve performance goals.
- Compliance and Accuracy: Ensure entries are processed in an environment and with processes that ensure 100% compliance with CBP regulations. Aim for minimal errors (less than 1%) resulting in additional billings or corrections submitted to CBP.
- KPI Management: Directly manage staffing and processes to KPIs to achieve optimal results, including centralized, offshore, and decentralized vendor management.
- Financial Performance: Achieve budget results, including revenue and cost management, ensuring the facility operates profitably.
- Operational Oversight: Maintain direct contact with operational staff to ensure responsible supervision of customs regulations. Ensure company and customer compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.
- Career Development: Promote career development in cooperation with direct leaders. Provide leadership, direction, support, development, and motivation for the Customs Brokerage managers, indirectly to achieve objectives.
- Internal Collaboration: Regularly interact with senior internal personnel on significant issues, often requiring coordination between organizational units. Consult with peers and top management in long-range company planning. Leverage informal networks to get things done and build cross-team effectiveness.
- Empowerment and Involvement: Foster empowerment and involvement within the team to achieve high performance and engagement.
- Education: BS/BA in a related discipline.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in a related field.
- Licensing: Brokerage license strongly preferred.
- Vision Creation: Ability to create and execute a vision for customs product that incorporates compliance, customer service, commercial value, and shareholder value.
- Analytical Skills: Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database applications.
- Leadership: Demonstrated personal leadership skills; team management skills, including coaching and developing people.
- Financial Acumen: Strong financial and budgeting skills.Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
