Job Description
To support the implementation of automated material handling equipment into our distribution centers. Typical equipment includes: conveyor, carton / tote sortation, unit picking, unit sortation, case shuttle storage systems. The automation engineering team supports our operations teams at our more automated distribution sites across multiple project phases: design, implementation, testing, go-live, and post go-live.
Responsibilities
- Provides equipment layout and function expert advice to our design and operations teams.
- Calculates equipment rates and targeted performance
- Supports equipment punchlisting and rate testing
- Supports warehouse control / execution system software design and test
- Supports and educates the operations team on how to use the new equipment
- Performs data analysis of equipment rates and errors
- Supports the operations team to implement equipment maintenance agreements
- Develops productivity estimates for processes that interface with material handling equipment
Key Skills:
- Prior experience implementing automated unit / case handling equipment
- PLC equipment control
- CAD for equipment layout
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Project management
- Warehouse control systems (WCS)
- Warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Barcoding
- Data analysis using excel, access, SQL, power BI
- MOST / MTM labor modeling
- Great organizational skills
- Experience with new distribution center start-ups
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in an engineering field, with particular emphasis on Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Facilities, and/or Maintenance Engineering required
- 3-5 years of experience in distribution or manufacturing engineering, with particular emphasis on Ecommerce Fulfillment implementation projects or engineering management required
- 1-2 years of project management experience for automated material handling equipment or building implementation required

Shared role focused on automation control software logic for both Reverse and Forward working with and challenging the KNAPP team to ensure systems are working as intended, carry out cross-system tests of the developed software products and ensuring the quality of new functions and systems. Create automated tests that are currently carried out manually and identify system issues/bugs to ensure they are fixed. Ask critical questions about the usability and configuration options of the applications and proactively make suggestions for improving them.
