POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates the scheduling of procedures, according to policy and procedures, to meet the needs of the patient, physician, and DHR Health.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology is strongly desired. Medical terminology with good customer service strongly preferred
- Willingness to be crossed trained to other areas.
- Organizational skills are necessary
- Good written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Must have one year of clerical/office related work experience in a medical or health care environment. Computer or word processing proficiency is required, and strong customer service skills are a must.
- Must be able to respond to patient needs by interpreting facial expressions and to communicate effectively utilizing verbal and written communications.
- Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
- Requires working with frequent interruptions and have strong customer service skills.
- Must have good working knowledge of computers.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
Considers priorities and special needs of the patient, physician, and the Hospital when scheduling appointments and radiological procedures.
Schedules procedures according to policies, nursing and department staff availability, patient needs, and physician’s block time.
Maintains schedule according to procedure and physician’s time and staffing requirements.
Coordinates schedule assessing time and equipment availability, identifies conflicts and adjusts schedule as needed.
Accurately prepares the schedule for timely distribution.
Facilitates daily completion of the facility schedule.
Follows procedure for notification of changes in the schedule (e.g. cancellation).
Maintains and protects each patient’s right to confidentiality.
Answers telephone and intercom courteously and in a quiet, pleasant voice.
Assumes clerical duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Performs related duties as required.

Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. All employees are required to attend the DHR C.A.R.E.S program which outlines the Customer Service Principals including: Commitment, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Service.

B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
