Schedule: Monday – Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours

Position Summary:

Getwell Healthsystems a leading provider of mental health and addiction treatment services, is seeking a compassionate and licensed IOP Counselor to join our team. This role will involve working with clients dealing with mental health disorders, substance use issues, or co-occurring disorders, providing therapeutic support through both individual and group counseling sessions. Our IOP program offers a structured yet flexible environment for clients, allowing them to engage in treatment while continuing with their daily lives.

As an IOP Counselor, you will have the opportunity to work with individuals and groups in an outpatient setting, focusing on recovery and relapse prevention. The role requires clinical expertise, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to client-centered care. This position is available for both Indiana and Kentucky-based facilities, so applicants must meet the licensure requirements for either state.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Individual Therapy:
   • Conduct individual counseling sessions to assess and address clients' mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorder needs.
   • Develop personalized treatment plans based on client assessments and progress, adjusting as necessary for optimal outcomes.
   • Provide ongoing support and guidance to clients in their recovery process, focusing on self-awareness, coping skills, and personal growth.
2. Group Therapy:
   • Facilitate group therapy sessions that encourage peer support, behavioral change, and skill-building.
   • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), to help clients manage their conditions and reduce relapse risk.
3. Assessment and Evaluation:
   • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.
   • Make appropriate referrals for higher levels of care, such as inpatient treatment, if necessary.
   • Work closely with other clinicians to ensure that all clients' needs are met.
4. Crisis Intervention:
   • Provide immediate support and crisis intervention when necessary, including handling clients in acute distress or those at risk for self-harm or relapse.
   • Safely de-escalate situations and implement safety plans in coordination with other clinical team members.
5. Case Management:
   • Work collaboratively with clients, their families, and the treatment team to coordinate care, including referrals to external resources as needed (e.g., housing, vocational assistance, community-based support groups).
   • Track clients' progress, ensure proper documentation, and monitor treatment goals to ensure continuous care.
6. Documentation and Compliance:
   • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
   • Document treatment plans, progress notes, and other required records in a timely manner.
   • Ensure all interventions are in line with state and federal guidelines for both mental health and substance use treatment.
7. Education and Prevention:
   • Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families about mental health, addiction recovery, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
   • Educate clients on available community resources, self-help groups, and post-treatment support networks.
8. Collaboration and Teamwork:
   • Actively participate in treatment team meetings, offering feedback and insights on client progress.
   • Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, medical staff, and other professionals to provide comprehensive, holistic care for clients.
9. Professional Development:
   • Keep current with the latest developments in mental health and addiction counseling through continuing education and training.
   • Participate in regular clinical supervision sessions and peer reviews to enhance professional growth.

Qualifications:Education and Licensing:

• Required: Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work (MSW), or a related field.
• Licensing (Indiana & Kentucky):
  • Indiana: Must hold valid licensure as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), or equivalent.
  • Kentucky: Must hold valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), or equivalent.
  • Certification in addiction counseling (e.g., LCAC or LAC) is a plus for candidates working with clients struggling with substance use disorders.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mental health or addiction counseling, preferably in an outpatient or IOP setting.
• Experience in group facilitation, crisis intervention, and case management.
• Knowledge and experience with evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care.

• Strong clinical assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate and develop treatment plans tailored to individual client needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and manage crises effectively.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients and treatment goals simultaneously.
• Knowledge of the ethical and legal standards in mental health and addiction treatment, including HIPAA compliance.

Work Environment:

• The IOP Counselor will work in an outpatient clinic setting, with a focus on delivering structured, intensive treatment programs during the day, evenings, or weekends.
• The role may require occasional travel for community outreach, case management meetings, or to collaborate with external agencies.
• Flexibility in hours may be required to accommodate client schedules.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary Range: $45,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on experience and licensure.
