About DIA-PSN-GGI:
DIA-PSN-GGI comprises three distinct packaging businesses acquired by SMG within the past 18 months. The initial objective is to integrate the teams, systems, and locations of the three companies while retaining their existing customer base. The second objective is to introduce new leadership and capabilities to leverage the companies' strengths and drive revenue growth.
DIA Packaging provides wooden crates, skids, and packaging services. Packsize Now uses Packsize equipment to create custom corrugated packaging for fulfillment, manufacturing, distribution, and other markets. Gene Goodwillie supplies traditional corrugated boxes and packaging supplies to moving and industrial customers. The combined annual revenue of the three companies is $16 million, with a total headcount exceeding 50 employees (confirm actual figures).
Job Summary:
The General Manager leads and executes the ongoing integration efforts while ensuring existing customers are supported and retained. As this work progresses, the GM will prepare the business for future growth by refining sales, operations, purchasing/supply chain, quality, customer service, and finance/accounting. A strong focus is needed on sales leadership, operational excellence, accountability for results, and development of leaders. The GM collaborates with SMG leadership to meet strategic objectives and helps communicate the vision to the organization, guiding both the strategic and tactical direction of the business. The GM maintains a proactive approach in creating confidence amongst employees and is ideally perceived as motivated, respectful, and intelligent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· The priority is to increase revenue. The GM will oversee the development of a sales team with the necessary expertise, skills, and discipline to identify and capture targeted business. They will maintain relationships with key customers and oversee proposals and contracts. The use of a CRM to track performance and accountability is expected.
· Ensure an exceptional Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Delivery environment. Responsible for driving process improvement initiatives for all KPIs including safety, quality, machine efficiency, labor hours, waste, preventative maintenance, and cost management to meet annual budget, operational goals, and objectives.
· Build and develop a high-performance leadership team aligned with the company values and culture. Responsible for training and developing salaried and hourly employees to ensure strong organizational capability. Work with HR leadership and department managers on employee discipline and overall response to workforce issues and conditions.
· Maintain a positive working relationship with all clients, suppliers, and departments within the company.
· Ownership and responsibility for full P&L for the organization. Execute the business strategy, structure, and management processes to achieve company goals.
· Effectively manage and control operational expenses, capital expenditures, and cost center management. Implement controls and checks to ensure financial compliance and manage any financial risk.
· Hold regular business and strategic reviews with employees to communicate performance, direction, and modifications to plans as necessary. Coordinate strategic meetings for plant growth (e.g., Capital meetings, Capacity meetings, Product Improvement).
· Understands financial reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Responsible for the integrity and timeliness of monthly results and forecasts. Capable of building a business case, including the preparation and validation of Capital Acquisition Requests.
· Prepares an annual budget and medium-term plan.
· Responsibly oversees physical facility.
Experience and Education Required:
· A bachelor’s degree in business, administration, operations, or engineering is required. An advanced degree or MBA is preferred.
· Candidates must have at least five years of experience as a general manager with full P&L responsibility.
· Experience in sales, operations, and finance roles is essential. Preferred candidates have grown a company from $5M to $20M .
Qualifications (including Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
· The ideal candidate should have experience in the packaging and paper industry, as well as knowledge of manufacturing and machinery operations.
· The candidate must possess analytical and continuous improvement skills that can be effectively applied in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
· Important qualities include leadership abilities, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning skills, and excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
· The candidate should be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures. They should also be capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and presenting information clearly while responding to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
