Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting vital signs, medical history, and treatment plans.
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining relevant information and ensuring their comfort.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other medical professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary items are readily available.
- Educate patients on medication administration and post-treatment care instructions.
- Uphold strict confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical assistant role, preferably in a PICU or hospital setting.
- Familiarity with internal medicine practices and procedures is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of patient care protocols and medication administration techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems is an advantage.
