Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) to join our healthcare team at the Diabetes, Thyroid & Hormone Center of the Treasure Coast in Port St. Lucie, FL. In this part-time role, you will provide expert guidance, education, and support to patients with diabetes to help them achieve better health outcomes and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or group diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) to patients.
- Develop personalized nutrition and diabetes care plans tailored to each patient’s medical needs, preferences, and lifestyle.
- Educate patients on insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), and other diabetes technologies.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
- Conduct assessments and provide ongoing follow-up care to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in diabetes management and nutrition therapy.
- Document patient interactions and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Certification as a CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) or CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) is highly preferred.
- Strong background in diabetes management and medical nutrition therapy (MNT).
- Proficiency in using diabetes technologies such as insulin pumps and CGMs is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and manage a diverse patient caseload.
- Florida state licensure (or ability to obtain before start date).
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in diabetes education or nutrition counseling.
- Experience in virtual/telehealth services is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: Starting at $30/hour, effective February 24, 2025.
- Schedule: Part-time position to possibly progress to full time, for now, Monday through Friday, 1 PM to 5 PM.
