Position Summary
The Lifeguard at Diablo Country Club is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool users by vigilantly monitoring activities, preventing accidents, and responding swiftly to emergency situations. This role requires a proactive, attentive individual dedicated to maintaining the club's standards for safety, cleanliness, and member satisfaction in the aquatic facilities.
Reporting Relationship: Head Lifeguard
Work Performed
- Monitors all pool users, enforcing safety rules and guidelines to prevent accidents.
- Performs rescues and administers first aid as needed.
- Conducts routine pool maintenance tasks, including vacuuming, skimming debris, and checking and reporting water chemistry, to ensure a clean and safe swimming environment.
- Assists with swimming lessons and aquatic events, providing support to instructors and coaches as required.
- Engages with members and guests, offering assistance and ensuring a positive experience at the pool.
- Maintains accurate records related to pool usage, incident reports, and maintenance activities as needed.
- Participates in regular training sessions to keep lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR skills sharp and up to date.
- Move furniture, lock or unlock gates, put out and pick up towels.
Be aware of time and shifts that you sign up for and being willing to communicate with other staff to help them cover shifts.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements for Position:
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous lifeguarding experience preferred, with a strong understanding of pool safety practices and procedures.
- Excellent swimming skills and physical fitness to perform rescues and other pool-related tasks.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff.
Physical Requirements:
- Strong swimming skills and the ability to perform all lifeguarding techniques and first aid.
- Physical fitness to participate in rescue operations, training activities, and conduct facility maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and special events.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively with club members and staff.
- A team player who values collaboration and can work well with the Aquatics Director and other department heads to enhance the overall member experience.
- Wear approved apparel/ uniform.
