Material Planning Specialist
About the role:
The Materials Planning Specialist is an integral part of the planning team, responsible for ensuring availability of the right materials at the right time in the right quantity. This tactical position requires deep cross functional integration with the Montgomery site – operations, warehousing, quality, finance, and processing, among others – to maximize production of quality finished goods. By leveraging Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) tools in SAP and OMP, the successful candidate balances cash, service, and risk continuously. Key stakeholders include scheduling, supply planning, bottling operations, warehouse, procurement, and suppliers! Excellent organizational skills, ability to balance short term priorities and exceptional information analysis skills are a necessity.
This role is based at the Montgomery, AL site and reports to the Materials Scheduling Manager, located in Plainfield, IL.
Role Responsibilities:
- Analyze and adjust the Materials Requirements Plan to firm orders with suppliers
- Meticulously optimizes and maintains planning parameters for pack and liquid components, including lead times, safety stock, minimum order quantities, scrap rates and more
- Actively coordinate with the site scheduler to ensure the materials plan and the bottling plan are in balance
- Partner with procurement team to monitor supplier performance (Material Availability / OTIF)
- Participate in suppler business performance reviews
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, operations, procurement, quality, and other stakeholders
- Generate, maintain, and report a set of critical metrics that demonstrate efficient and effective management of resources
- Lead material phase outs, minimizing material obsolescence waste
- Develop and lead continuous improvement projects, with a focus on supply chain and efficiency and waste reduction
- Support strategic projects as a key participant
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate degree is required; Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field is preferred
- APICS CPIM certification desirable
- SAP, OMP, or similar ERP software experience required
- Strong analytical skills required
- Must be highly skilled in MS Excel and Outlook
- MS PowerBI experience desirable
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma certification is a plus
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Seeks innovative solutions for the supply chain through a deep understanding of how the business operates. Champions new ideas and is not afraid to fail
