Context / Scope :
NA Technical plays a key role in achieving Supply's goal to become the Best in Class CPG Company. The Manager of Packaging Equipment position is in the Packaging & Technology Group (P&T) within NA Technical. This team delivers packaging expertise, drives supplier performance, and promotes brand reputation by collaborating with suppliers to deliver impactful, high quality packaging components. This role provides leadership in establishing critical packaging equipment standards to safeguard the technical equity of our core brands and provides expertise in packaging material technology and production filling line interaction, enabling delivery of our NA Innovation and Optimization pipelines.
Purpose of Role :
The purpose of the role is to use strong functional expertise within packaging related equipment and production processes, with environmental understanding to drive sustainability, innovation, and growth agenda. To provide technical expertise to others in materials, material / machine interactions, and manufacturing. To strengthen and grow the technical equity of our brands by using functional expertise to solve critical problems, define and improve the accuracy of our technical standards, and verify performance of our manufacturing sites against these high standards. Market Complexity :
As part of the end-to-end supply chain, NA Supply has an extensive network of wholly owned and Third-Party Operation sites across the US and Canada. In North America, Diageo owns and operates a network of manufacturing, bottling, distilling and warehousing sites, wineries and vineyards. NA Technical is an organization of 150 people with a $20M budget, operating across several locations within the US and Canada. From these locations NA Technical manages the Technical Equity for Diageo NA Supply and Demand across the Diageo portfolio, and for our core North American brands globally.
Role Responsibilities :
Top Accountabilities :
- Deliver the investigation, development and research of packaging equipment to improve performance, lower costs, improve quality and operating efficiency.
- Develop partnerships with key conversion partners to understand the short term and long-term supply opportunities as they relate to packaging equipment
- Work in partnership with suppliers / OEM to enhance capabilities and drive performance resulting in improved quality and plant efficiency for our production sites as well as supplier sites.
- Provides expert level leadership and guidance in resolving critical challenges in manufacturing or commercialization of complex packaging or pack / machine interaction issues, including leading cross-functional Root Cause Problem Solving exercises.
- Establishes processes and leads efforts to define technical standards for our core products and processes, both domestically and globally.
- Builds strong relationships and networks at all levels of the organization to improve Diageo value working across the global supply, procurement, and regulatory communities, and with internal / external partners to strengthen the equity of our products and Diageo's reputation.
