Job Overview:
The MTA Instructor plays a vital role in providing specialized dyslexia instruction to students across designated campuses. Using the Multisensory Teaching Approach (MTA) curricula, the instructor delivers evidence-based interventions, monitors student progress, and maintains open communication with parents and school staff. The ideal candidate will document progress consistently, manage internal tracking, and actively participate in curriculum training sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Support:
- Teach MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach) lessons to students in grades K-12 as needed.
- Implement the curriculum to support students with dyslexia effectively.
- Collaborate with campus staff and administrators to schedule and conduct instruction.
Progress Monitoring and Collaboration:
- Track and report student progress bi-weekly.
- Work closely with the DAS Ed/Psych team and other staff members to ensure alignment with dyslexia intervention goals.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and development sessions as required.
Program Implementation:
- Manage multiple campus caseloads to deliver on-line instruction and support.
- On- site and in person instruction and support required as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents and administrators about student progress and program updates.
Compliance and Ethics:
- Adhere to all federal and state mandates, including reporting requirements for abuse or neglect.
- Uphold organizational policies and the code of conduct.
- Model professionalism and ethical behavior in all interactions.
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree (required).
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate preferred.
- Must complete MTA training within six weeks of hire (training provided).
Experience:
- Prior experience in ELA and/or dyslexia instruction is highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Familiarity with virtual instruction tools and office technology.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus, but not required.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Frequent sitting, occasional bending, and light lifting (<15 lbs).
- Requires travel to multiple campuses within the designated metroplex.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with hours scheduled during regular school hours. Specific schedules will be discussed upon hiring.
