The Purchasing Agent is responsible for providing support to the Purchasing department through performing daily purchasing activities in compliance with mandated requirements.


The focus of this job is producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards and procedures. Precise, consistent work output is essential requiring patience and willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. The job environment promotes steady, methodical work output so duties can be done on time and error-free.


Key Responsibilities and other duties as assigned:

  • Prepares and monitors purchase orders for assigned products ensuring compliance with contract terms and resolving any contract and payment issues.
  • Assists with timely and accurate drop ship order processing and helps to maintain the vendor/customer connection for drop shipments.
  • Reviews open orders to ensure that all orders are processing through the ERP system as expected.
  • Supports all areas within the Master Data organization including pricing setup and filing, new item setup, processing, and maintaining the creation and changes of customer master, vendor master and Bill of Materials.
  • Uses the New Product Form for all Domestic stock items and provides product images and descriptions, unit of measure, pricing, SDS, country of origin, NAFTA, or any other identified information accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for timely planning, scheduling of receipt, and inventory control of assigned products.
  • Provides support in monitoring inventory flow, verifies purchase requisitions to the master list, clarifies unclear items and recommends alternatives for new product substitutions only.
  • Conducts research on vendors and products to provide information to the Purchasing Supervisor.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Education:

  • Minimum Associate's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field and 1 year of relevant experience, or the equivalent of 3 years combination of education and experience.


Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including intermediate competency with Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures and processes.
  • Experience operating standard office equipment including using relevant software applications and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including ability to collaborate with various levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with detailed information and data.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and meeting deadlines and schedules.
