The Columbus Clingstones, the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, are set to debut at Synovus Park in April 2025. The Columbus Clingstones are a proud member club of Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH). DBH was formed in 2021 to support, promote, and enhance Minor League Baseball through best practices, professional management, innovation, and investment.
Position Overview:
The Assistant, Field Operations will support the preparation and maintenance of Synovus Park for Clingstones games, as well as other events such as concerts and festivals. This hands-on role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in professional baseball turf management, including field maintenance, agronomic practices, and irrigation systems. Ideal candidates are passionate about sports turf, eager to learn, and ready to advance their careers within Minor League Baseball groundskeeping.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learn how to aid in the field maintenance of Synovus Park
- Assist in the preparation of Synovus Park for all Clingstones home games, high school and/or college games, and other outside events throughout the season
- Provide input and help execute a seasonal agronomic plan for Synovus Park
- Assist in the implementation of aerification, topdressing, overseeding, verticutting, and other agronomic and cultural practices
- Perform clay maintenance/management on mounds, home plate, infield skin, and warning track areas
Learn basic equipment maintenance and record keeping
Assist in irrigation repairs and system tuning.
- Learn tarp management during varying weather situations
- Work with Front Office and Stadium Ops team to learn how to assist in preparation for large scale outside events such as concerts, festivals, and corporate outings
- Learn and perform various other duties from time to time as assigned by the Director, Field Operations.
- Assist in training and supervision all seasonal and part-time staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical requirements needed to be able to lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to carry, walk, sit, push, pull and move continuously during work hours.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
