The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are a proud member club of Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH). DBH was formed in 2021 to support, promote, and enhance Minor League Baseball through best practices, professional management, innovation, and investment.
Position Overview:
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees and member club of Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH), are seeking a responsible, highly motivated, individual to manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Teams ballpark operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversees overall daily operation and maintenance of PNC Field and all systems. This includes HVAC, sound, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, pest control, custodial services, sprinkler systems, elevator mechanics, etc.
- Maintain the aesthetic quality of the facility.
- Be able to perform routine maintenance and repair related to painting, flooring, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, HVAC and others as needed.
- Work closely with the home and visiting clubhouse staff.
- On-Call status for building emergencies.
- Create, review and amend operational procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, inventory controls, fire code rules & regulations and set-up inspections completing them to the highest standards.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners, handle performance and financials for third party contractors such as cleaning, contractors, temporary labor, HVAC and waste management.
- Adherence to the annual operating budget. Prepare event cost estimates/analysis for specific areas of responsibility. Supervise cost accounting expenses including but not limited to house equipment rental, supplies and staff.
- Maintain strong working relationships with General Manager, DBH Ownership and Stadium Authority to make recommendations for areas of the ballpark that need attention/fixes. Including emergency repairs and capital improvements.
- Oversee and schedule contracted stadium cleaning company for all stadium events and needs holding them to the highest standards of cleanliness.
- Oversee grounds maintenance to include debris removal and landscape duties.
- Assist in production, set-up, execution and break down of events held at the ballpark; including all home baseball games, stadium rentals and additional stadium events (concerts, festivals, parking lot events, youth baseball events, etc.)
- Create and advise on most cost-effective purchasing/repair work and manager departmental budget and all budget assigned items.
- Ability to work under deadlines dictated by event schedules and project timetables.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee one (1) Full-Time employee, seasonal part-time game day staff and interns. Must be comfortable setting up schedules, submitting timecards and expense reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or at least 5 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree. Please do not apply if you are currently in school or are not able to begin a full-time position in the next 30 days;
- 3 years of supervisory, management and/or leadership experience;
- 2 years of event experience with professional sports team(s) & concerts;
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work long hours, including overnights, evenings, weekends and holidays;
- Ability to supervise the work of others and work alongside;
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment;
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment;
- Working knowledge of equipment safety, facility maintenance and housekeeping;
- Knowledge of budget preparation and control;
- Ability to read and understand blueprints;
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements;
- Familiarity with Metasys HVAC Program
- Basic Knowledge of boilers, chillers, and refrigeration;
- Basic Knowledge of Fire Alarm/Fire Protection systems;
- Ability to operate or learn to operate heavy machinery including not limited to tractors, scissor & boom lifts, and forklifts.
- Ability to complete projects and resolve issues independently with minimal supervision while showing initiative and good judgment;
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods and navigate through stairways in a ballpark setting;
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job which include: personal mobility to get in and around the facility, lifting a minimum of 75lbs., carrying, moving, climbing, and working from various heights, in moderate to loud noises in the ballpark;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook and other computer skills as required.
