In 2025, more than 5M fans will enter our gates, and we aspire to make every fan’s experience memorable. The Director of Strategic Procurement will work with the corporate leadership team and the General Managers at each club to drive meaningful cost savings and quality improvements on $150M of investments across a variety of critical areas including stadium operations, team operations, technology, and a variety of third party spend. This role will be a critical member of the CFO leadership team and will be a key partner in driving the future of minor league baseball.
We are seeking a highly experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Procurement. In this pivotal role, you will be tasked with creating and leading our Procurement department from the ground up. This includes establishing the department's structure, developing and implementing all procurement-related processes, and transforming the organization's approach to spend management. Your exceptional project management and leadership skills will be vital in defining and enforcing new spending habits, and ensuring the successful implementation of a new procurement system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing:
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies to drive value from our most material spend
- Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Lead complex supplier negotiations to drive favorable terms and build long-term partnerships.
Supplier Management:
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring high performance, reliability, and alignment with the company’s objectives.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews, addressing any issues and working collaboratively to resolve them.
- Develop and implement supplier risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
Procurement Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, marketing, partnerships, club operations, legal) to create and execute procurement strategies that align with the organization’s business objectives.
- Partner with internal departments (e.g., production, logistics, finance) to understand their needs and ensure procurement plans align with organizational goals.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement strategies and vendor performance.
- Develop Procurement Processes: Create and implement clear, efficient procurement policies and procedures from the ground up. Ensure these processes are well-documented and integrated with the company's overall business operations.
Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Spend Analysis and Management: Conduct thorough spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and inefficient spending patterns. Develop and implement a comprehensive spend management strategy, including the establishment of new organizational spending habits and controls.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards and managing supplier relationships.
- Oversee procurement budgets and ensure that expenditures align with company financial goals.
- Monitor and control procurement expenses, ensuring cost-effective sourcing and purchasing.
Process Improvement & Efficiency:
- Continuously assess procurement processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Leverage technology and data analytics to optimize procurement workflows and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) preferred.
- Proven experience (7 years) in strategic procurement or sourcing
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with sports and entertainment venues is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale change initiatives with a proven ability to drive and influence organizational transformation.
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Ariba).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
