Company Overview:
Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH) was formed in 2021 to support, promote, and enhance Minor League Baseball through professional management, best practices, innovation, and investment. We are seeking a Receivables Manager to standardize and streamline the billing and collections function for a variety of revenue verticals across 35 minor league baseball clubs.
Position Overview:
The Manager, Receivables plays a key leadership role in overseeing the billing and collections function within DBH as well as standardizing information for revenue recognition purposes. This position involves policy and control establishment, management of a small billing and collections team, and collaboration with various departments and clubs to ensure accurate billing, revenue recognition, compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. This role will also work to develop a deep understanding of the KORE CRM system. The individual in this role reports to the VP, Corporate Controller and is a remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Managerial Leadership: Establish and maintain invoicing policies for sponsorship, special events and other billing needs. Develop and implement operational strategies and associated controls for effective accounting and collection processes. Collaborate with executive leadership to align corporate revenue and working capital goals.
- Financial Reporting: Develop reporting capabilities within the CRM platform for various revenue streams. Work with appropriate DBH contacts to ensure appropriate reporting, so that revenues are recorded in accordance with US GAAP. This role will also assist in the preparation of Major League Baseball revenue reporting obligations.
- Individual Contributor: This role will require presentations to senior level leadership. They will also be expected to operate in a “hands-on” environment.
- Process Management, Optimization, and Monitoring: Establish, maintain, and monitor standard operating procedures, controls, training, and approved templates. Continuously evaluate and enhance processes to improve efficiency and accuracy within the CRM platform and general A/R cycle environment. Implement best practices including automated processes.
- Champion a high-quality customer experience, manage risks, and drive improvements in the cash conversion cycle. Specific ownership of credit and collections policies and leveraging systems to bill customers timely and accurately.
- Build the rhythm of regularly publishing insightful performance dashboards and business KPIs. Strong understanding and operational knowledge of core KPIs will be required with specific attention to variances to budget and prior year.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Sponsorships, Special Events, Ticketing, and their contacts at the various clubs to ensure alignment in policies and procedures. Collaborate with external auditors to support the audit process. This role will also work closely with the Club Finance teams on month-end close.
- Build trusting relationships with sales and club business partners, engage key stakeholders in regular communication. Share insights on business trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop operational expertise to leverage DBH 360 (CRM) and NetSuite ERP platforms. Partner with IT to introduce & implement complementary technologies to achieve mission and benefit.
Qualifications
Requirements And Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, preferably revenue accounting as well
- Public accounting audit experience is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition principles, corporate policies, accounting standards (ASC 606), internal controls and financial reporting.
- Deep understanding of how CRM tools work with ERPs. Direct experience with KORE CRM and NetSuite a plus.
- Proven ability to influence change across multiple locations and stakeholders.
