Senior IT Specialist

Job Summary:
Senior IT Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the IT infrastructure at Diamond Braces. This position focuses on advanced troubleshooting, network management, and implementing creative IT solutions to improve business processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a solid understanding of networking principles, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Networking and Infrastructure

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize network architecture, including routing, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Analyze and understand network topology to ensure efficient communication between multiple locations.
• Monitor and resolve issues related to network performance, such as latency, packet loss, or connectivity problems.

Technology Adaptation and Learning

• Rapidly learn new technologies, software, and tools by leveraging publicly available documentation, online resources, and vendor support.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions for IT operations.

Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across endpoints, networks, and services.
• Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to quickly identify root causes and implement solutions or workarounds.
• Provide second-tier support to Level 1 IT Specialists and guide them in handling advanced technical challenges.

Creative Solutions Development

• Design and implement efficient solutions using available tools and resources to address operational challenges.
• Automate repetitive IT tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workloads.
• Collaborate with the IT Manager to research and propose improvements to IT processes and systems.

Other Responsibilities

• Act as a point of escalation for critical incidents requiring advanced technical expertise.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI, and organizational security policies.
• Document solutions, procedures, and processes to improve the IT department’s knowledge base.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

• Solid understanding of networking, including network architecture, routing principles, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, tools, and software.
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills, with a track record of resolving complex technical problems.
• Creativity in finding or building solutions using available tools and resources.
• Practical experience managing small-to-medium-sized networks in multi-location environments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (e.g., Entra SSO, Teams, SharePoint) and UCaaS solutions.
• Strong documentation skills for network and system configurations.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience with IT ticketing systems, RMM tools, or PSA platforms.
• Familiarity with IT Glue or similar documentation platforms.
• Knowledge of healthcare IT systems and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
• Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell) and basic automation capabilities.
• Exposure to SDWAN/SASE and VMware infrastructure management.
