What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Utility Foreman position at Diamond C Plumbing & Utilities?
Job Summary
- The Underground Utility Foreman will run a small crew of 3 to 5 people installing sanitary sewer, storm sewer, gas service & water service. Utilizing some directional boring equipment and excavating equipment, as well as other miscellaneous machinery (jackhammers, masonry saws, shovels, hydro excavating, etc.), used to locate utility lines (Gas lines, water lines, communication cables, etc.) to avoid damages by using the boring machine. The foreman will also ensure industry safety procedures are followed and will verify all vehicles & equipment are operational & in good standing. Must be able to understand utility plans and drawings. Selected candidates must be trained to ensure they are up to date with all TEXAS DIG laws and requirements, ROW standards and OSHA Trench Safety procedures.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL (willing to acquire if not available) & clean driving record.
- Ability to read and understand Utility construction prints.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to work on call including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced and quickly changing environment.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety requirements to complete the job(s) safely;
- Strong knowledge of Excavating equipment.
- Strong knowledge and understanding the use of laser levels & theodolite(s), establishing elevations & transfer.
- Ability to operate excavator, hydro excavator, trenchers & front-end loaders.
Responsibilities
- Provide on the job training for direct employees.
- Ensuring/Enforcing Workspace Safety
- Plan(s) review, estimating & budgeting
- Dig holes/trenches by utilizing excavators/bore machine
- Rodding (pot holing) existing underground utilities
- Flagging/ traffic control as needed.
- Equipment housekeeping/daily logs of equipment
- Ensure site is set up correctly and in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure project requirements are met before starting the job.
