Forklift Operator/Material Handler

Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a forklift to transport materials, components, and finished goods across the weld and production floor.
- Deliver materials to weld stations based on scheduled work orders and priorities.
- Assist in scheduling and organizing work orders and materials according to production timelines.
- Work closely with welders and supervisors to anticipate material needs and minimize downtime.
- Help prepare parts for welding, including staging materials, grinding, or basic layout assistance.
- Maintain clear records of materials moved, inventory locations, and order completions.
- Perform basic quality checks and ensure materials are free from defects before delivery.
- Monitor stock levels of frequently used materials and communicate shortages.
- Ensure a clean and organized material staging area.
- Follow all safety procedures and report hazards or maintenance issues.
- Support other production-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1 years of forklift driving experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Valid forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Understanding of manufacturing workflows, especially in a weld department, is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, part numbers, and basic production documents.
- Comfortable working around welding equipment and assisting in basic prep tasks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for most of the shift.
- Team-oriented attitude with willingness to assist where needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience as a welder’s helper or material handler in a weld shop.
- Familiarity with steel components, trailer parts, or heavy-duty manufacturing materials.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in learning more about welding processes.
